Hey all, I was wondering which isbetter, the dvd+rw or the dvd-rw. Lets say the HP 200i Internal DVD+RW/CD-RW Drive vs the 4X DVR-A05 DVD-R DVD-RW Drive.

Also, how fast can a 2x burner actually burn a whole dvd as comapred to how much a 4x can? Thanks guys

I wanted a -rw and ended up w/ a +rw b/c the deal was just too good. Come to find out my Apex AD-500w doesn't support +rw so it's not very useful to me now 🙁

I'm gonna try and sell it in the For Sale forum. It all depends on what your going to use it for IMO. I'm gonna wait till the media is a little more standardized and cheaper 😛

Mallow, I have a Ricoh +RW drive, and an Apex AD-500w DVD player, and the DVDs (+R/+RW) I burn are able to play. It could be the authoring software you're using. Some produce DVDs that are more compatible than others. I'm using DVDit.

As far as the media costs, the good -R/RW media is the same price as the good +R/RW media. The crappy -R media is quite a bit cheaper, but chances are you wouldn't want to use that anyway. If you got a great deal on the + drive, you should just stick with it until its outlived its usefulness and get whatever is standard by then.
