i recorded a dvd-rw disk on dvd-recorder from TV, finalized it, and it works on dvd player in my other room, but it's not recognized in my computer's BenQ DW1640 DVDRW.
What to do? Get dvd+rw?

first, you seem to have a formatting/mode compatibility problem, between set top player and DVD burner. However it is strange that "TV" video disc burned on BenQ cant be RECOGNIZED on BenQ, but can run on player fine. We are not talking about codecs or NTSC/PAL stuff, or any player software, but actual recognition according to you..

Then it becomes a media issue - Memorex vs Sony. You seem to imply now that memorex works on both player and burner but not Sony, which can be common.

I cant zero in on what you are talking about

Anyways, I would def try +RW

The second tab is for booktype changing, the BenQ DW1640 sets all DVD+R/RW/DL discs to DVD-ROM booktype as default, and we can?t see why anyone would want to change this, but you have the opportunity to do it at least.

Note it only does it for +RW not -RW

sorry i wasn't clear.
Memorex dvd-rw that I had, I burned them on my comp, on BenQ dvd recorder. they play fine on my comp and on dvd player and recorder. However, when i recorded Sony dvd-rw disk on my dvd recorder (not on my comp), it plays on dvd recorder and dvd player that i have, however it doesn't play on my comp BenQ dvd. I thought maybe it didn't recognize video because of some compatability issue with the dvd recorder and my comp dvd recorder, that is why i inserted blank Sony dvd-rw disk in BenQ dvd recorder and tried to record and it gave me an error.
Maybe now it's clear what i was trying to say.
I'll definatelly try dvd+rw disks.
Also, on the side note. I know that I can make a dvd-rom disk out of dvd+rw on my comp, but is it backward compatible if I use dvd-rom disk on my comp? I have a dvd-rom disk that came with my stand-alone dvd recorder. just wondering.
Thanks for help.
