DVD +/- RW drive question

I have a questions regarding DVD-RW +/- drives. If I recently purchased a Nu Tech 8x DVD +/- RW drive, does that mean that I can get rid of my 16x DVD drive and my 32X CD-RW drive? I'm a bit lost to the new standards of the DVD drives. Thanks.

You can take them out if you don't need them, but keep them in reserve. If the new DVD is going to fail, it will most likely do so in the first 30 days. I like to keep a second drive in as a slave incase I need to copy a disk.

Zoom keep them as Raybay said. I just a new PC with the Nu drive also and I also installed a Sony DVD-Rom drive.

Yeah, I would keep the DVD rom drive, at least you can do disk to disk copy without having to copy to hd first.

Keep AT LEAST the DVD-Rom drive, because if you'll be ripping music, DVDs or anything else from discs, it's a pity to use the DVD writer.

Why do you say it's a pity? For wear and tear reasons?

I just think he means it's easier to have 2 drives to copy disc to disc, otherwise you have to copy to the hard drive first and then on to the disc.

Hey thanks guys for all your advice. I think I'll follow it and keep the DVD-ROM drive in so I can have an extra drive for failures and disc to disc burning. I'm currently building a top of the line new computer and will keep all of you up to date and events. Thanks again!
