DVD-RW $347 shipped

sounds like a good deal to me.

Why not have STAPLES pm to Ecost...$499 to $339...and use $40 off coupon (still available?).

Act quickly...16 left at Ecost.

yes... another note to change the title...
dvd-rw and dvd+rw is two different technology.
please change.

yeah, it said 16 when I put it in a basket for testing...

I was thinkin' of PMing it, but I don't have an immediate need for it right now...prices will be dropping in the future.

I heard that the HP DVD+RW writers will not support DVD+R in the future. This might be a consideration to take to heart. Someone correct me if i'm wrong?

I just tried to PM ecost.com, but the Staples in my area (Omaha) was out of these units!! The CSR said to call back in 3-4 days and they might have more then. Told her the ecost.com price was today only, so 3-4 days from now wouldn't work. Would have been $299.00 + $12.95 shipping = $311.95, not a bad price!

Don't want to crap on the thread - but as mentioned, this drive will NEVER be able to write DVD+R media - making it a less-than-feasible drive if you're looking to write DVD's for distribution to set top players.

The Pioneer DVR-A04 (DVD-RW) was recently released, with a target price of under $500 - that'll serve to push the DVD+RW and DVD-RW second generation drives (of which this is one) down in price - the DVR-A03 is still hovering around $350 - but should drop quite a bit in the next couple of weeks.

I can get one of these free at this price from HP with infolab rebate of 350...but i really dont want a +rW drive. These and all the other first gen drives as of right now are not going to be upgradable via firmware to dvd+R. They are blowing these out to make room in april for the +r , +rw Drives. I want a dvd burner so bad i can taste it

Honestly, if hp would announce a trade up program for +rw owners i would bite, but im holding out. Maybe ill get lucky and hp will put the dvdi200 on the infolab site for compensation.

Doubful though.
