Well, hopefully this isn't a repost...

No rebate needed. CompUSA has their house brand of DVD-Rs for $7.99 per 10pk. They come in slim jewel cases. They are 1x but the ones I've tried have worked fine on my Lite-On burner from last week. Also, Circuit City has some 25pks for like $19.99 but that's after a MIR.

Hope this helps. THe store I went to had hundreds of them.

I've been using these on my NEC burner at 1x, working great. They were $6.99 for quite a while, wonder why they bumped the price.

I've been using these since I got my burner....never had a problem burning or playing (that wasn't my own fault!).

Weird - most of the CompUSAs around here have 2-packs that are $2.
The 10-packs are usually $7-$10....and the 20 & 50 packs are $40 and $100 respectively.

When I first got my burner, I was confused by this because as far as I could tell, the discs were the same, but buying the 2 packs ($2) was smarter than buying the 10-packs (then $20)...I bought a TON of the 2-packs that I just ran out of last month. But coincidentally, CompUSA had 25-packs (spindle) on sale for less than $20, so I stocked up.

ditto with me, i only made 3 coasters, 1 was because my machine hung in the middle of the burn process, another because i tried to re-author the disc to add my own "trailers" in and only managed to burn the "trailer" and another because i wasn't paying attention to what i was burning.

they burn GREAT in my TDK 4x +/- have no idea what speed they're burning at but they work
and playback, works GREAT in my Yamakawa DVD player, but skips all over the place in my Landel Player -- kind of a crap shoot when it comes to playback in specific players!

These will burn at 2x on my Optorite DD0201 (FW1.30), but most have verify errors. They burn without verify errors 80% of the time at 1x. All the discs play, but the 2x burned discs have a lot of drop outs. The 1x burned discs without verify errors play perfectly and the 1x with verify errors sometimes play back fine without glitches, too.

These discs burned perfectly at 1x in my old Pioneer DVR-105, but failed pretty often at 2x with 2x4all hacked firmware.

With older BTC 1004IM firmware (back in October), my drive did not burn these reliably at all. I don't know if it's been fixed in any of the several firmwares released since.

If you're willing to buy more than 10 blanks, you can get 50 Imation 2x/4x DVD-Rs or 4x DVD+Rs (I got Ricoh) for $40 + tax after coupon (mastercard) from office depot with the buy 1 get 1 free deal this week. Or go for the 25 Ritek G04 DVD-Rs for $19.99 at PC Club.

$8 isn't bad if your burner works reliably with these. I already have lots of various 4x DVD+/-R blanks purchased at the same price or lower ($0.80 each or less).

I haven't tested the DVD I burned he other day. Hopefully I'll have time to do that this weekend. So far I haven't had a problem burning anything yet. We'll how my SOny S360 wants to handle it. I watched the first 5 minutes of one and had no problems so hopefully that will continue.

Burns and works fine at 1x on my Pioneer A05/105 and Pioneer DV-525 set-top player. Maybe 2 or 3 coasters out of 50 burned.

I got a 10 pack of these a few months ago and they are garbage. If you use a PS2 to play DVDs they don't work at all.

Check the warrany on those discs. I got some a while back for my NEC1300a and they burned fine at 2x, but only have a 90day warranty. Fuji for example has a lifetime warranty. Translation= those CUSA discs will probably die on you much sooner than others.

Is this an in-store price or has the price gone up now? It's showing $14.99 for me.

Some cheap DVD media deteriorates with time. Just because you can burn a few right after getting doesn't mean they will be OK in 2 or 3 months. It's better to spend a little more and get some that are high quality that will last.
