DVD-ROM stopped working

I was reading a CD, changed CDs & all of a sudden I get an error saying no disc is loaded. Tried a couple other discs & got the same error.
This happened a few weeks ago but I fixed it by unistalling & reinstalling it. That ain't workin now.
Running Win 98se on an e-machine (hey it was cheap, ok).
Please help!!

I have this problem with only one dvd - end of the affair.. one day it worked, the next .. boom, no cd loaded. My guess is some dvd's dump thier multimedia stuff or try to load it at the same time and it messes up your program and it thinks nothing is there. Alas, re-installing never worked for that one dvd. Try some other dvds and see if they work.

It'll play music CDs but no CD-ROMs or DVDs. I just started studying for the A+, so I don't really know what I'm doing. Someone PLEASE help before I really mess something up.

Turn off the computer, unplug all the connections and make sure they are all plugged in firmly and secure. If that doesn't work see if there are updated drivers. It might also have happened if you had changed the region one too many times.
