DVD rom RMA setting isn't there...help!

hi
when i goto properties on my dvd and CDRW i can't see DMA settings..i remember i used to have it when i had asus a7v
how can i get my DMA setting back so i can play DVDs using ati dvd player.
specs
P3 800eb@900 with Globalwin FNP50
Asus CUSL2 256meg crucial pc133@150
Maxtor 30gig ata 66 7200rpm
Radeon VIVO SE 198@default

Sounds like you installed Intel ultra ATA drivers utility. Once that is in, the DMA option is no longer under system properties. You have to open the Intel program.

hmm..i didn't install anything called intel ultra ATA drivers utility. but i might have if installed it automatically. ;) how can i open "the intel program"

On my friend's system, it was in the Start menu.

Try looking in your device manager under &quot;IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers&quot; and search through the properties.

Is the only difference a new mboard. Did you do a swap and now you can't see the DMA check? Are both drives on the same IDE cable, one master and one slave?

i tired to install that intel prog that is for 8xx chipset series...but eventho i have CUSL2 which is 815e chipset, it said its not compatiable...grrr
anyhelp?

The only 2 places I have ever seen DMA settings are on the drives themselves with 9x and in 2k, it's on the IDE controller in the hardware profiles.

Check the ide controller when you do device settings instead of the actual cd/dvd rom and see if it's there under the properties
