I have an Aopen DVD-9632 slot load. I took it out a few days ago when I was building another computer just to use it to get the OS on it. I got around to putting it back in my system today. Well the bios and windows xp picks it up fine, but it will not spin up. I have tried about 5 disk and reboot and reconnected it about 10 times. It did read one disk twice but never again. It just waits for a second and says the media is bad or something like that. Can you guys think of anything to do to it to fix it? Could ESD killed it? I really like it because it was a slot load drive. I wish they all were like that. The funny thing is I just picked up the a liteon 52x24x25 from staples today. It was going in a linux box, but it may be going in my box now.

Did you put it back in the other system again to see if it worked in there still? Forget to change back jumpers or anything simple like that we all forget to do sometimes? Tried a different cable for sh*ts&giggles? I've fixed some crazy problems with a couple burners by flashing the firmware too and since you really like that drive you may as well troubleshoot it seven ways to sunday ;)

I will try it in another machine tomorrow. The jumper is on cable select and it is the only drive on that channel. Also the bios and windows see it so it is detected. The cable should be could because it is the cable it was using and that is the cable I have the liteon on now.
