Hello guys. I have a simple problem. MY DVD ROM DOESNT PLAY DVD's!!!I have tried the troubleshooting tips and as usual they failed.Mine is a standard 16x ASUS DVD ROM drive. Pls advise.
 
cant help you but I had a slot load pioneer that would just spit dvds back at me. I threw it in the trash.
 
Thx 4 ur advice. But the problem is the damn thing cant even read a DVD.The light flickers for quite sometime which means it tries to read it. But after that the light goes off indicating there is no DVD inside. Any suggestions?
 
does it read regular data or audio cd's? if it doesnt read any cd = it could be dead! get the model #, head over to asus's site and search or try to find out what's the life expectancy of your dvd drive!!

they're so cheap on ebay these days, it wouldnt hurt to have a backup laying around the house that you spent 10 bucks on!
 
i have the same problem with my dvd drive....light blinks but dvd doesnt load....was wondering if a cd/dvd cleaner will work on the drive. the drive was used only when i ran dvd decrypter. now nothin
