Shuttle AN35N U 400

CD-RW and DVD-ROM

I have them connected on the IDE cable with 1st connector on master CD-RW and second on slave DVD. The thing is my pc wont boot into windows if I have both connected, only if I do one at a time. It goes to the windows load screen and hangs forever. Any ideas why?

Setting it to Reset the ERCD or waht ever it actually is (nope sitll cant remember that Acronym), will help windows be able to boot.

It acutally says something like "Resetting the ERCD can help windwos to boot after a boot failure realted to new hardware"

Can't find that option in my bios, dunno about that working. I still can't figure out wtf is wrong with this. I don't understand why windows wont load.

I have tried:

primary slave on HDD master
secondary master on its own cable
resetting cmos 8,000 times with different configurations
starting up in diagnostic mode (which I can do)
starting up in safe mode (which works as well)

Is there something I can do in safe mode?

OMFG this is pissing me off.

I wanted to add that last night when I was fooling with this thing, I fried my CD-RW, apparently one of the molex connectors touched the metal or something on the CD-RW and it started smoking. Now when I plug it in the "busy" light stays on, I'm assuming its done for. But the DVD-ROM should be okay.
