DVD rom for duplicating cd's?

i am looking at either a toshiba or pioneer dvd rom. i have a creative labs 52x but it won't work with my plextor to do CloneCD applications. are they about the same quality, or is one superior? they're about the same price so it doesn't make much of a difference to me, though i know that the toshiba will work with clonecd. thanks 🙂

I don't think I've ever heard of a cdrom (new one at least) not being able to read all the contents on a cd. They're usually all capable of reading all types of cd-rom discs since otherwise, it won't work.

I have two machines with burners . . . both have Pioneer 106S DVD ROM drives and I do several disk copies a day with them. Same with my laptop . . . did three with it today using DVD ROM as the source.

Never used Clone CD, so I can't help you there. But the DVD ROM drives have no problem burning with ECDC5 under XP Pro.

I have a slot load Pioneer dvd rom, it does work with clone CD. I only use clone cd to copy my music CDs for my car's changer (cause if the car gets broken into and the changer stolen, I'm only out the changer + 10 cdrs, not the changer + 10 CDs) and it's working fine for that.

i don't like leaving cd's in the car either. i also tend to have bad luck with cd's, so i like to just use copies of the originals instead of the originals. you should see my windows 95 cd 😱

thanks for the info 🙂
