DVD-ROM for a Mac

Xesh

My buddy has a Mac (why, I'll never know), and he wants to add a DVD-ROM drive. Which ones are compatible with Mac? There are a bunch of sweet <$60 deals on newegg.com, and I don't know which (if any) apply.

Thanks---

I'd stick with one of the common name brand ones, but most standard IDE drives should work.

You would be wise to stick to an Apple-certified drive (aka: an Apple-branded drive) to ensure 100% compatibility with current and future firmware.

However, if you are determined to go it on your own, here is a database of drives and their varying levels of compatibility with Mac hardware.

Good luck!
