DVD Rom drive not working

All of a sudden my dvd rom drive just stopped working, I haven't changed any settings or added any new hardware. What could cause the the drive to stop working. Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
A ton of things could cause a drive to quit. The drive could of just died. The drive could have lost power, maybe the power supply stopped giving it juice. The cable came loose, power or data. Drive became disabled somehow. You need to eliminate these issues one by one to make sure the drive itself is the issue before taking action to replace it.
