Anyone know how these stack up.

Samsung makes a 8X/4X/32X CD-RW & 8X DVD-ROM OEM for $164 Shipped
Toshiba had a 4x/4x/24x & 4x DVD-read Retail for $181 Shipped

Anyone seen these or have these??

Well, I would prefer this drive over both of those you have listed: Ricoh 9120A.

You can see a review of this drive here

Yeah the Ricoh 9120A is nice. 4280 thought. Out of the price rang. Im not gettingthis for myself it is for a friends system (YOU KNOW THE ROUTINE)...
i just thought a combo drive would be better than finding a dvd and a seperate cdrw since neither will be used alot.

the toshiba is a little too expensive, but the samsung looks like you'd actually save some money

If you can stretchthe budget, the Ricoh MP9120A will not disappoint. I absolutely love burning at 12x. I've burned so much in the past two months (DAE my entire CD collection for MP3 encoding AND reburned CDs to add CD-Text), that I have only tried DVD once (have a home theater box for that anyway).
