Hey Hey,

I've got an HP Pavilion Notebook (N5450) with a DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Drive on it. I was told that it would be capable of copying CDs, but the system does not read that I have a capable drive for creating CDs, and won't let me move items onto my CD-RW discs, but will let me take stuff from the discs.

I was wondering 1) is it possible to copy CDs with this computer? 2) is it capable of copying things onto the CD-RW discs and 3) how do I go about getting the system to recognize having a functioning, readable drive for this?

Thanks for any help.

Well I know that one of my co-workers has one of those in his laptop and he copied a map program for me. The copy works like the original.

Without UDF software (Roxio DirectCD, Ahead InCD, etc), your CD-RW's can only be written in regular CD-R format (i.e. you write the whole disc, then you have to erase before you can use the CD-RW again).

To copy a CD using a single drive, you'll need to copy using an image file. Your CD copying software will have to cater for this.
