DVD-Rom and CDR-Rom Problems

I just got my DVD-Rom today and installed it as a master with my CDR as my Slave on IDE2. But when it shows up in windows it is shown as drive F while my CDR is still drive E. I want my DVD-Rom to be my E. How can I switch it to that. BTW I am running Windows XP Profesional.

So you have the jumpers set so that the DVD-ROM is the master and the CDRW is the slave, and in Win2K it shows up as the opposite? Wierd. I heard that it's better for the CDRW to be designated 'master'. I'm not exactly sure why, but that just seems to be the general opinion.

yeh I have the jumpers set like that but it isnt in win2k but winxp..

You have them in the right order on the cable? if they arn't in the right order they might screw up. Master should be on the end I beleive. slave should go in the middle. try that? or just try switching the two. I have both of mine on cable select they run better that way in my opinion let them decide which is better and run themselves. but am running 98se. so it's a little more relaxed then the NT of xp
