DVD Ripping Corruption

I have been working on ripping some of my DVD collection to my computer (yes, i own them). I have been using AutoGK on a file ripped using DVD Decrypter, leaving most of the settings on normal. In addition, I have also tried it with the program set to make a 1400MB output (thinking overcompression was the problem) and I have also tried setting the quality to 75% (again, thinking that 2 passes, or overcompression or something was causing the problem).
basically, when I encode the video, I get no errors, just random corruption every few seconds in the video, as well as crackling, corrupted sounding audio, with a loud "CHIRP" every few seconds or so. I have tried letting the program choose the audio, and I have also specified AC3, to see if it helped. Is there something that is causing this that I can fix? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks folks.

Why? What can I do to fix it?
