What settings do people use when ripping a DVD?

I have 3 questions..

1) When converting a rip to say AVI or MPEG format, what settings do you use to make them FULL SCREEN (when the movie is full screen or when it's wide screen)?

2) What settings do you use to make the file size able to fit on a CD-R? Basically, you can download movies off of Kazaa or whatever and they are good quality and able to burn onto a CD. What settings make this possible?

3) What program is the "best" and possibly free to convert your ripped DVD to AVI format?

Thanks as usual.

Try other frame rate or change "Detect/Force 24H" Flag

bitrate. on most tools you can set the desired final bitrate. for MPEG2 (DVD / SVCD) you want to stay about 1-2Mbps, don't know about Divx

The program is called DVD2AVI.

a good collection of guides is at doom9. Personally, I like DVD2SVCD with CCE.

I second this vote "I like DVD2SVCD with CCE", it is a sweet program , the quality on 2 SVCD's is better then VHS.

Have a look at www.vcdhelp.com for all you info needs.
