DVD recorder that upconverts too?

Hello, I'm in need of a new dvd player now that I got a 42" DLP. My old one doesn't even have progressive scan. I would like one that could upconvert and RECORD but I'm not sure if something like this exists. Anyone ever hear of such a product?
