DVD Rebuilder

I don't see an option in DVD Rebuilder to rip just the movie and not the whole disk. I used DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to HD. I don't see an option in DVD Decrypter to rip the movie only, either. I then ripped the movie only using Smartripper, but DVD Rebuilder didn't like the result. It said it wasn't a movie, or something like that. I then ripped the movie only to HD using DVDFabDecrypter, but DVD Rebuilder said there was a problem with a GOP file and that it may be encrypted. So, I'm just running DVD Rebuilder against the DVD Decrypter rip, and I presume I'll have the whole disk. Is there a way to just get the movie?

Yes, get the full version of DVD Fab Platinum. One stop shop. It gives you the option to just rip the movie.

Um, I did. That was the version of DVDFabDecrypter I was using when I described what I did in the OP. But DVD RB had a problem with the rip. I just reencoded the whole thing. Not what I wanted, but until I find a workaround, that's what I have.

I just scanned the .txt file that was installed with DVDRB and it says to rip the whole disk, not just the movie...

Ok man, maybe I'm having a problem understanding what you want for the end result. Why are you even using DVD Rebuilder? You JUST want the movie, right? DVDFab Platinum will just extract the movie if you'd like. No other programs necessary. DVD>movie.iso, done. With the iso you can do whatever you'd like with it, burn it, stream it, whatever.

Correct. DVDFab Platinum is a very versatile program,
that for me, was well worth the very reasonable fee
for the license.

I just looked and now realize I don't have the Platinum version. I have the free version 3.0.8.6.

The DVDFabDecrypter 3.0.8.6 free version I have ripped the movie only to HD, and it was 6.28 GB. So, to burn a DVD5 of it, I need to reencode it, which is why I wanted to use DVD Rebuilder. However, I get this error when I try to do that:

_______________________________________________
DVD-RB Error
_______________________________________________

Error: Illegal video GOP size. Possible encrypted source. Aborting.

OK

I'm using DVD-RB because doing a just-movie rip with other software (e.g. dvddecrypter) with a ~65% reduction has a bad quality hit.

Yes, the free version won't rip just the movie. The Platinum version will not only rip just the movie, it will shrink it to DVD5 if you'd like and with great results. Also make sure you yank unneeded languages and audio tracks out. That helps ALOT. Ditch DVD Rebuilder and DVD Decrypter, they're obsolete.

Again, DVDFab Platinum, a one stop shop for DVD ripping. Also works great for DVD>PSP and DVD>iPhone/iPod Touch too. ;)

Does DVDFab Platinum use a real encoder? DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter do not, and I presume free versions of DVDFabDecrypter do not. Really, I would be using DVDShrink for this except that it does not have a real encoder.
