Type I singal sided 4.8 gig media
Type II double sided 9.6 gig media

Creative makes one sold in europe.

Anyone else have any information about the dvd ram?

Oh i know what your talking about the fact that the disks are in cartridges
and dont go into any dvd drive
but the onesided disks can be removed from the cartridge and can be used in other drives

Yeah, that's what I have read too. The DVD-RAM media is incompatible with almost any drive except DVD-RAM drives. Go with the DVD-R, -RW, +R, or +RW to avoid compatibility issues.

i think it's because dvd-ram is more or less an effort solely made by pioneer. or was it phillips? one or the other.

my bad, cd-rw is being pushed by pioneer. go for the +rw, its supposed to be compatible with the most things.

My Creative DVD ROM drive (from an old DX2 kit with a 5280 drive) reads both the single and double sides RAM disks--once you remove them from the cart. The RAM drive is a Panasonic 101. R
