I have a sata dvd-ram drive, and a IDE 400 GB Seagate harddrive. I have the 965 chipset,

so only one ide port. Thus, the purchase of the SATA Sony Optiarc DVD-RAM drive.

Now to the problem, all of a sudden, my drive started disappearing, and sometimes the

POST screen states, Detecting IDE Drives.... and waits for a long time. Now, the POST Screen is fine, i hope, but the drive still disappears. THE POST Screen says, IDE Master 0: Sony Optiarc.

BUT. the drive is disappearing on my computer and is not detected under BIOS. HELP!

First of all do the easy stuff.

Make sure your drives are plugged in correctly - checking jumpers (are they set on CS?)

If all is ok on that front, try unplugging the SATA dvd, and see if that makes a difference.

Post back with the results.
Good luck.

Well it started finally to work, all I did was reconnect the DVD-RAm to Sata 3 connector. It worked for some time...BUT..occasionally it doesnt find the drive.

Again, I have a 400 GB Hard Drive set on Master on the IDe, and the SATA DVD-ROM which states is also on master (which I can't change, because no pins)

So, is my setup wrong?
