DVD-R(W)+CD-ROM?

I am curious to know how many of you still have two optical drives for burning stuff. I am considering getting rid of my 52x CD-ROM drive because it's too damn loud and sticking a removable hard drive caddy in it's place. Problem is, when burning stuff, you have to rip it to the hard drive first, right? How many of you have only a single optical drive and burn stuff regularly? Should I get rid of the second optical drive?
 
I have a second drive just so I don't have to swithch CD's as often when playing different games. I'm thinking about adding a third.
 
Well I use a DVD burner and a CD burner for the most part. I never think very much about the sound, maybe get a quieter drive? I guess in your situation it should be fine to dump the CDROM. As well, yes if you are burning from a CD you will need to put it on the HDD first.
