I use +R because that's what Verbatim Lightscribe media is. Really shouldn't matter anymore.

doesn't matter unless your player is horribly old

+r is slightly better for data using many sessions, less waste space

I believe +R is supposed to be "better" from a design spec perspective (I think better error correction?), while -R used to be thought of as more compatible.

I would say that it is probably more important right now just to get quality dvd +R or -R blanks (can't go just by brand name, need to know actual manufacturer).

Also, quality of burn depends on how well your particular burner likes a particular manufacturer's dvd +R -R

Great resource for this is http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33

Unless your using a duplication process for the general public where thousands of different players are being used...DVD+R is superior.

Also noted that the difference in players that support DVD-R vs DVD+R is within 5% as of a few years ago when I saw the numbers.

I wouldn't say DVD-R hands down for anyone at home. There's just nothing to support that theory anymore.

i use +R's. My burner burns them better and i never have a problem reading in any player. I had issues with -R on my older 2nd gen Panasonic DVD Player

+R is a bit faster burning - but -R has usefulness where older players are involved. Today - stick with +R.

I agree. Just buy quality discs and use whatever standard your particular burner works best with. Do a bit of research and if it writes to DVD+R media with superior quality, buy those. Ditto for DVD-R.

My 1997 dvd player likes dvd+r and dvd+rw since I set it to dvd-rom with bitsetting. My prefer media is dvd+rw now since if the video comes out bad I can erase it and start over.
