The -R is the industry standard, the +R is a standard unto itself, created by certain manufacturers. As far as I know, the best media (Taiyo Yuden) only comes in the -R flavor.

I've got a few hundred "StarLogic" DVD-R blanks (from OfficeMax or Staples...don't remember which) that were HORRIBLE from the beginning. They wouldn't pass a data verification five minutes after writing to them, regardless of the DVD writer.Originally posted by: gsellis
