DVD R/RW not Burning any media at all

My DVD Burner is no longer working and I cant figure out why. I've burnt DVDs in the past, but not anymore. I've updated all the drivers and still nothing. It doesnt burn CDs either.

Check your cable. And, what do you mean it no longer works? More descritption...

Check to see if the DVD drive is still listed as a drive in XP. Sometimes I have had the drive to disappear from the list.

The drive is thee as d:. By not works I mean it doesnt regognise blank DVDs at all. I've tried more that one type. i did however get it to burn CDs, but i dont know how. The cable is connected propperly
