hi i am running a windows xp pro machine with a samsung SH-W08A DVD R/RW drive, i have the newest firmware update and it came with no drivers. i recently put the new shrek 2 dvd into my computer and watched it, after the movie i got back to work and needed to burn a weeding onto dvd. after watching the movie - when you insert a blank dvd rw into the dvd rw drive the computer recognizes the drive as a cd-rom dirve and nothing else, i have uninstalled the drive itself and reinstalled it - still the same issue. and another thing i cant figure out is: i had alcohol 120% installed on my computer and it installed a virtual cd rom drive and i uninstalled alcohol thinking that it may be causing this issue, but now that virtual device wont go away - my computer says i have 3 cd drives and i only have 2. so:
when insert a blank dvd r into the DVD r/rw drive - computer sees the drive as a cd-rom drive and nothing more.
and
i cannot get rid of the drive H: (3rd cd drive) and my computer really only has 2 cd drives, and my computer tells me it has 3? wtf?
please get back to me asap
