DVD+R or -R?

Just got a Pacific Digital (BenQ) 16x DVD burner, and need some media. Aren't +R's better than -R's? I assume there are single and dual layer also.
Anyone know any good deals on them, either online or B&M (no Fry's). How about ebay?

+R for overall performance, -R for compatibility. Good to have some of each on hand so you can burn for the target of the disk.

Get DVD+R. BenQ (DW1620) supports bitsetting, so you can change the booktype to DVD-ROM, which is more compatible than -R. Get your media from Rima.com. Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

The only Taiyo Yuden's I see at Rima are 4.7GB. ?

Unless you have a money tree, don't waste your time with Dual layer right now..Just buy the 50 pack of Taiyo DVD+R's, I bought a spindle of them a couple weeks ago.. all I have to say is

One possibly minor issue - laptop drives. I remember reading somewhere that not a lot of laptop drives read DVD+R/RW. I've got a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive in my laptop (the drive's a Toshiba, don't remember the model though) and it can't see +R/RW discs.

And I guess I should settle for 8X as well?

Just one more note--the 50 pack of TY DVD+R's show up as 12X in my burner (Optorite DD1205), might be the same for yours.

i have been using fuji 8x-r for a while with pretty good luck, but if i could change the bitsetting on my samsung i would use taiyo yuden +r.
