Which media is most compatable, which is better? Whats the diff.

For MP3's, backing up dvd's, movies, etc?

I agree, but DVD-R is still a little more compatible with older DVD players & game consoles.

This gets asked every few days...do a search next time :)

My Fuji DVD-R's work with all my stand alone players and all consoles but my Fuji DVD+R's only work reliably on my XBOX. I buy all DVD-R's now.

DVD-R is cheaper and more compatible with DVD players. Why are people saying that DVD+R is somehow better?

The two formats have very little variance, and there are pros and cons to each. My general concensus is:

DVD-R is better for movies
DVD+R is better for data

Yes. The latest drives from Pioneer and NEC look amazing. Only +DL is out though; -DL will be out in the near future. Media prices remain high.
