Finally reached the end of both of my RiData DVD-R cake boxes and I'm wondering what people prefer now in terms of bulk DVD-R. When I bought the ones I have now I bought them because of a specific dye that was supposed to be better than average.

I haven't kept up to date since then so I'm not sure what new dyes and whatnot are out there. I have a PX712-A that I do the burning with if that makes a difference.

Verbatim, Sony, or Taiyo Yuden bulk and nothing else for me. If you want lightscribe media try HP or Verbatim.

Verbatim is excellent in all of my burners. Can't say about Sony as I have been boycotting them for some time now.

I've liked verbatim ever since 32x CD-R with their azo technology. I use sony currently, and don't have any coasters because of failures, but the write speeds are largely dependent on the drive, such as firmware, and compatibility (over the brand of media itself). Your remark about the dye leads me to assume you archive? I believe DVD-RAM is best for archival storage.

That's odd, I'm on my fourth 100 cake of 8x TY DVD-R...the only disc so far that sucked was one that I screwed up myself and produced a coaster. The rest play fine on both of my players, as well as three other players my mom and sisters have.
