DVD-R Burners anything new by year end?

I'm piecing together a new build, but I'm not looking to have it up and running until Dec. / Jan. I'm holding off on the expesive stuff like Conroe / MB until the prices and selection work themselves out. Should I snag a burner now with the good Benq / NEC deals as of late? Or is there any improvements in the Tech. coming down the pipe in the next 5 months in which case I should hold off? Example faster/color Lightscribe or labelflash

I don't know if there will be anything new (hopefully 16x DVD-RAM), but currently available features such as SATA, 18x DVDR, 12x DVD-RAM and labelling will become more common. Prices aren't going to go higher for current specs so I wouldn't buy something now that you cannot make use of.
