I built a new PC for a friend that has the following setup:
MSI KT7 Pro2A with T-Bird 1200 , 256 Ram
Elsa Gladiac 32 2MX
Pioneer DVD-115 16X EIDE
SBL value
Windows ME
System works great in games and, Internet with no problems except
DVD playback. It locks up after a few minutes.
What I tried so far:
· Loaded new bios 2.5
· Enabled DMA
· New Via driver 4.29
· Bushmaster 3.11 driver
· Switched DVD players (same problem)
· Moved SBL to each PCI slot (no luck)
· Used different video card still no luck.
· Tried Power DVD software and Cinamaster
Please can someone help me!!!!!!
I am sure someone has a similar setup. The MSI KT7 Pro2A is a highly rated motherboard in this forum. Did I make a mistake? I am counting on you people to help me out. I fell like a chump recommending this setup to a friend and can?t get it to work.

Thanks for reading.

I have the same problem and tried everything I could think of. The only thing that seemed to help the most was to use the less aggressive AGP settings in the BIOS and disable FastWrites. But it still locks every so often.

From what I understand, the newest BIOS release (2.5) addresses DVD issues. But I do not have a DVD ROM so I cannot confirm what it fixes.

Here's what MSI says:

1. This is the AWARD(r) BIOS version 2.5 release.
2. This BIOS fixes the following problems of the previous version:
-Fixed that Pioneer DVD and TEAC CDROM sometimes stop in playing VCD or DVD.
-Added more ratio function.
-Fixed zip drive mode show error.
3. 2001/03/08

Hope that helps.
