I didn't read the whole article. How expensive will it be. I'd think the people who'd find the most value out of this would be the cheapos anyway :p

i just wonder how good the decode quality is:p divx 5 with full smoothing and all the settings maxed is pretty intensive.

That's exactly what I use. Celeron 1300 with a Radeon w/S-video out. Great picture quality. However, Divx 5 high bitrate files (1600kbs+) such as the kind you'd fit on 2 CDs can be surprisingly demanding if you turn on all the goodies.
