Are there any DVD players out there that will play movie files such as MPEGs on CD-R's? I don't mean if you burn the CD as a VCD.. but if you burn a CD as a data CD. Just like those MP3 CD players that they have out on the market. It would be better than making a VCD cuz they you would have to worry about space only instead of the time.

This site Vcdhelper has lots of info and reviews of DVD players, including hacks and owners results with different media.

Check it out.

Most newer DVD players will have VCD/SVCD support. All you need to do is convert your video files into and MPEG file, i think MPEG-3, and burn it into a cd-r using a VCD program. I've started to archive my seinfeld episodes onto VCDs and watch on my tv.
