Apparently KISS released a new DVD player DP500 that can play DIVx 4, 5, ISO MPEG4 disks.

Not only that, but it also has an ethernet port which allows to go on local networks and play all that content from a network drive.

Is this cool or what?? No more problems with crappy TV out / long cables or moving the PC back and forth!

Here you go: linkie. This is just a press release, though they do claim it's shipping in Europe.

I seriously hope they start shipping in the US before christmas!! This thing just might make it on my list!

That is EXACTLY what I need.

I hope it isn't a subscription based deal.

No, there's no subsription anywhere. It does not have to go on the internet for any approvals, only to the local network.

KiSS's other models seem to have a good rating on vcdhelp

What limitations do you think it has, other than not playing XVid?

Edit: Even with Divx issues, if it can play .vob's from a network drive this would be more than enough for me to get it! It would save countless CPU hours currently spent on DVD2SVCD.
