I just bought this DVD player from Fry's in San Diego last night for ~$50. The model is DVD-218, and it's from a company called Yamakawa. The name sounds Janpanese, but this company's HQ is in Germany :Q
For the price, you get :
-Component Video Output
-Composite Video Output
-capable of playing DVD/SVCD/VCD/CD/MP3/CDR/CDRW
-built in Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder on board
-Dolby Digital 5.1 digital output
-DTS digital out (through coaxial digital though, not SPDIF)
Consider the features that this one has (esp. SVCD and Component Video Out), it's a good deal for $50 bucks. I hope it's hackable also
