SORRY!!! I know this has been asked a gazillion times. But I am buying either a RAdeon 8500 or Gforce 3 Tomorrow!!!! I need to know!!!!!!! I can't decide. I have always like ATi for their DVD playback and TV out. But I heard the New Gforce Ti cards can almost compare to Ati's 2d, but what about dvd playback???

For DVD's playback i think ATI's still in the lead in terms of quality. But others prolly said You almost cant tell the difference from the naked eyes.

I am not aware of any special DVD features on the Geforce (still), so it's basically the same as using just your CPU for watching DVD. There are a few reviews that did a comparison with the DVD playback too, just look around.

There are two hardware accerated features in the GF2/3, three in ATI and 4 in the 'GF4'. Note these featuers are not DVD specific, but can be used for any video playback (however often aren't).

A Hollywood+ card or clone is 100% DVD decoder, your computer basicaly provides the card with a data steam, but if you don't want a dedicated card, ATI probably has the best DVD decoding. There is one point though, new CPUs are more than grunty enough so they don't need ANY hardware acceleration.

The problem is the quality. The quality is the same(using the exactly same video card) if you use a P133MHz or a P4 2GHz. Of course, you can't watch a DVD with a P133(without DVD decoder card), but the images look the same.
