I just got back buying bread at 4am at Safeway and saw a stack of DVD player on sale
It is Toshiba SD-1600 for $179 (with Safeway club card), brand new.
This is weird, Safeway ? DVD player ?
well, they carry scooter the other days so maybe this is not so weird after all.
Is this a good deal ? I don't know.
I try to search for it but only a little info, mostly come up for SD-1200 version (Amazon have that for $199).
Anyone have any info on this player ? any good for that price ?
Oh, I found this at Safeway in Tempe, AZ.

back to sleep zz...zz.....zz....zzzzz
oh, gotta eat first.
mmm......peanut butter jelly sandwich :)

Look HERE for SD-1600 specs from toshiba.

Note the SD-1200 has :

Remote Confirmation
DVD/VCD/CD Playback

under the CONVENIENCE section, which seems to be the only difference in the descriptions (other than the placement of copyright and tradmark markers, which is annoying).

But DVD-Video/CD Playback is listed under the features of All Toshiba players in both descriptions, which leaves Remote Confirmation, whatever that is.

kyutip - From what I understand the Toshiba SD1600 DVD Player replaces the popular SD1200 which replaced the super popular SD2109.

If it's brand new with warranty and nothing is wrong with it then I would suggest that you BUY IT. These are selling for $229.95 at 800.com and around $122 at FleaBay

Perhaps I should check my local Portland, Oregon Safeway, thanks!

I think the difference between the 1600 and 1200 is taht the 1600 doesn't play vcd. That's what I've read at a few sites. Whether or not this is true is another matter. That would explain the price difference though.

not a bad price, considering that i saw Best Buy selling them for $199.99 yesterday.

Hehe, u go to get some bread, and come back away with a DVD player. What next, a 32" Sony WEGA TV to go along with it? :) ;)

Yeah, Bestbuy has the 1200 and the 1600 for $199.

Assuming that the average American would want ANY product in the 1600 model vs. the 1200 model, watch for BB to start clearing the 1200's off the shelves soon.....
