I am considering a DVD player for my computer. How would I connect it to my television to view movies, if possible? Is there a way to run coaxial cable from the computer to my television?

This is dependent upon your video card. You need to have a video card with TV out support.

"You need to have a video card with TV out support."

Yes and No.

If you are going to by just a DVD drive and use Software decoding for play back then you need TV Out support from your video card.

If you are going to buy a DVD player and hardware (pci) decoder card (ie: Hollywood Plus) for your computer then the decoder card provides the video and (optional) audio out.

if your video card has a s-video output then you can
run that to your tv. if not you would need either a different
video card or a decoder card which have s-video outputs

<< run coaxial cable from the computer to my television? >>

If by coaxial you mean like what the cable TV company uses then it is not so simple and you would be better off buying a set-top DVD player. But if your TV has either composite or S-video inputs then you need either a graphics card with TV-out, a PCI DVD decoder card with TV-out, or an external scan converter. Actually, most people would be better off just buying a set-top player since they can be found for about $100 these days.
