ok,
I have an IDE Samsung DVD SD-606 that is unused.
Last time I tried using it, I never got it to work (can't recall why)

I am now running Win2k Prof (with an AMDk6/450 with 512MB RAM.)

Should I bother to swap out my 24x CDRom with this thing?
ie: Does this OS support DVD players?
If so, what free software should I use to play it?

Thanks guys.

If the drive itself is working, then you'll have no problems with getting it to work in Win2K. Should see it automatically. If the drive itself is fubared, then not much you can do.

As for software DVD players, afraid I can't help you; I've always used Power DVD or Win DVD, both of which you have to pay for.
