Depends on what you're most sensitive to. As long as you're ok with a bit of chroma upsampling error, the Denon DVD-3930CI would be my favorite. If you can't have that, then the DVD-5910 is better, though more costly.

Some DVD players suck at converting too. I guess it's a matter of what has the better scaler.

The Silicon Optix HQV processor in the 3930CI rocks. There are better implementations, but for the price, it's hard to beat for a standalone player. Of course, it's still rather costly.
