dvd player died--any recommendations on new ones

my trust old apex dvd player finally died after 4-years, so now looking to replace it. wont have a lcd tv for at least another year.. does it pay to get a dvd player w/upfront conversion now or just get a regular model.

Just get a cheap $30 for now, then get an HD player when you buy the new TV. They will be cheaper then.
