DVD Player Compatibility US vs. UK

I'm was thinking about buy a copy of the DVD Shaun of the Dead on Ebay from a guy in England I was just wondering if their DVD's would work in our DVD players and vice versa because I know that our PS2's games are different than theirs.

Regional encoding in the UK is different than in the US. So the short answer is no.

But, there are ways to make it work. Region-free DVD players are sold. You pay a premium for them, of course. Software exists that lets one watch a DVD from any region on their PC. Finally, one can make a copy of the movie, stripping out the regional encoding in the process.
