DVD Player and ATI All In Wonder Radion

Going shopping tomorrow for a dvd player.
My rig is a
1.2 gig t-bird
768 meg crucial pc133 cas 2 ram
Asus A7v133 motherboard Bios is ver 5.0
2 Western Digital drives (1 20 gig and 1 30 gig)
4oo watt p/s
Acer 12x8x40x burner.

Any suggestions on what brand of cd player to get?
Also,, what is best,,, hardware card, or software conversion?
Also running a Sound blaster pci 16 sound card. (sound card will be next for the upgrade)
DVD is new to me and hopefully I asked the right question.

I?d recommend the Toshiba 16x, its very solid drive and fairly fast. As for the hardware vs. software issue, I don?t think there is any reason to go with hardware these days. Particularly when u have a Radeon that dose most of the decoding in hardware anyway. If u want to take advantage of the radeon's features however u will need the right software player. WinDVD is the only commercial software I know of that uses all of the radeon?s features. As for sound card I?d say go for the Philips Acoustic Edge or Turtle Beach. I have the Philips and its sound quality blew me away, + it came with Power DVD 3.0 one of the best DVD players out there.
