DVD Playback -- Sound extremely low. Player with a fix?

With Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, etc. all sound on DVDs I'm playing is extremely quiet. Master and Wave in windows are maxed, and the player's volume is maxed. I have to turn my speakers up so loud that I hear a lot of noise.

Are there any players that allow you to increase the volume past 100%, or any other fix for this?

What ac3 codec are you using? There should be an option to raise the volume on each channel or overall volume within its control panel (assuming it has one).

with media player classic, try options - filters - audio decoders: check the "normalize" box

otherwise you might try power dvd, options- audio output - advanced: set to "noisy environment" and "LFE". i think windvd has the same options
