Can anyone recommend the best DVD playback software? I have searched on CNET, but don't really trust what I see there. I had WinDVD and liked it, but lostmy hard drive and no longer have the backup discs. Thanks for thefeedback.

PS-Hope this is the correct forum.

You should be able to download WinDVD again from Intervideo's website, assuming you were a registered user. I know I can download it as much as I want after I bought it for $70. I don't have any discs, and don't need any...

I'm pretty happy with WinDVD, but I haven't really tried anything else.

I've used both WinDVD and PowerDVD, and prefer the later. However, it's been several versions since I last tried WinDVD, and they are both similar in the features offered.

For basic DVD playback, you really can't go wrong with either.

I like PowerDVD and VLC media player which is free open source program and plays just about any media file. You can get VideoLan at videolan.org.

Hmm.

I have WInDVD that shipped with my Voodoo III card. Wonder if that version will allow me to register and download newer versions.

Would be nice as that version was always very buggy and never could get it to work with XP.

But anyways, Not tried it in a while but honestly PowerDVD works great for me. I have tried NV DVD and others and really like PowerDVD the best of what I have tried.

I use NvDVD. I like it better than WinDVD, a lot more customization and fun features. I haven't tried PowerDVD, though.
