Heres the situation...
I was gonna mount my LG 1980U LCD monitor to a wall and use it to watch movies. I was gonna mount it about 5 feet up on the wall. But I noticed that if you look at the monitor from an angle slightly lower than perpendicular, the image goes dark real fast. And since I would be watching from my sofa I would always be lower than the monitor. (and I definitely dont want to mount the monitor really low on the wall).
Strangely enough, the monitor retains its image clarity when looked at from above perpendicular. VIOLA! I thought all I have to do is rotate the monitor 180 degrees so that the monitor will retain its image clarity from below (what used to be above) and then use the included software that also rotates the monitor image when you turn the monitor. I tried this and it worked beautifully. The image quality was clear and greatly more visible from my sofa...all was good until I tried to play a DVD. No playback from either Win DVD or Windows Media Player...Then I rotated the monitor back to its standard 0 degree position and DVD playback worked just fine.
Any ideas to what the problem is? Im currently using onboard graphics so I dont know if a video card would help? Or is it something with the LG monitor software/drivers? Does anyone out there have an LCD monitor that can play DVDs back after rotation?
Thanks,
J
