I'm wondering which would be best to use to play dvd's an on old pc I have.

I have a ATI Rage Fury 32megs agp video card with tv-out.

I also have an old Creative DXR3 decoder card lying around. Which would be best s-video output to use to play dvd's on my TV? The ATI card, or the DXR3?

Thanks

Unquestionably the DXR3 card. Use the drivers from Sigma Designs (Hollywood Plus, I believe), since they're a bit more up-to-date than Creative's.

You'll need to use the application provided by Creative/Sigma Designs (depending on what drivers you use).

There's nothing wrong with using the rage fury. The Rage 128 chip has IDCT built in, so it can decode dvd's just fine. As for using the decoder, if this only for the TV, dont use the passthrough VGA connector, connect the card only to the tv, not the monitor. You wont be able to watch it on your computer, but the TV will display things just fine, after some adjustments.

I got the card installed using the Sigma Design drivers and it works fine.

Just wondering about dobly digital sound. I got no sound when I use the sigma software.

I have my SB live hooked up to my AV reciever via the digital out on the SB Live, and into the coxial in my AV reciever.

Do I need a cable going from my dvd drive to my SB Live?

Edit: All I had to do was plug it in the digital out on the dxr card. Everything works great.

Thanks
