DVD only plays first 8-10 chapters

I just replaced my old Pioneer Slot DVD player that died with a Pioneer DVD-116. The problem is that it only plays about 8 to 10 chapters and then goes back to where one makes choices. The DVDs play fine on my home theater DVD player.

I have an Athlon 900 on a KT7-Raid mobo
768 MB of RAM
ATI 64 DDR VIVO card
The latest ATI DVD software
The latest Microsoft codec
The drive is a master on the secondary IDE port - without a slave
DMA is enabled


Any ideas?????

Have you tried re-running the initialization wizard in setup/preferences?
Have you tried more than 1 DVD?
How does it handle data cd's and music cd's?

Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and all the software - I'm using the latest.

It's happened to all the DVDs I've tried - about 5.

It handles music and data CDs without a problem.

Have you tried the software that ussually is included on DVD's?
