dvd mt ranier, replace floppy?

will mt ranier finally replace the floppy drive in all things except legacy devices?

hopefully not cause thattl mean i have to buy a new burner that does this Mt rainer thing. I use my floppy all the time

i actually believe that USB pen drives will become the "new" floppy drive, and once they become less exspensie they will be widely used.

easier to transport than a floppy, (what other item can that be said about?)
holds more
easy to use
almost all computers have USB ports

Who would really want a writable DVD to replace a floppy? Why do I need a 4.7GB disc to hold onto my BIOS upgrade when I flash it? Or my RAID drivers when I install Windows (especially since current Windows installers ask for a floppy)? Granted, for most other purposes a floppy is mostly not efficient. But there are likely plenty of times when a floppy is all that is needed. There is too much "Bigger, better, faster, more..." When sometimes, 1.44MB is more than enough...

[EDIT} I hate floppy drives, but I see no real need for something gigantic to replace them.

I completely agree, I have one and many of my friends have them, they are extremely handy. I actually got my sister a Creative Nomad MuVo(USB drive with MP3 player buit in) for her birthday(she goes to university and finds it much easier than using a floppy). I have also heard that online storage or using E-mail might also be possibility but its not always possible to have internet connectivity so i don't think it is as viable as the USB drives.

what would make a real slick replacement to floppy would be if Blue tooth really ever catches on you could have a wireless pen drive. All you would have to do is walk up to the computer prolly punch in some security code and thier is all your important files.
